Indian preacher, spiritual leader, musician, and actor, Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan is best remembered for his debut movie MSG : The Messenger of God, which released in 2013. He then appeared in its 2015 and 2016 sequel, MSG 2 - The Messenger, and MSG - The Warrior Lion Heart respectively.
Born on the 15th August, 1967, Gurmeet Singh Ji belongs to a Jat Sikh family. His parents, Naseeb Kaur and Maghar Singh, and he lived in Gurusar Modia village in the Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, where he completed his studies from. Since the age of 23, Gurmeet Singh Ji has been heading the Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS), a socio-spiritual organization, working towards cleanliness, organizing blood donation drives, tree plantation, disaster relief, among many other social issues.
Gurmeet Singh Ji is married and has four children; three daughters and one son. His son is married to a former Indian National Congress MLA's sister from Bhatinda.
The godman made his acting debut in 2013 with the movie MSG : The Messenger of God, which he also directed and wrote. He also wrote and sang the songs of the movie. The movie, however, bombed at the box-office with critics refusing to even rate the movie. He was then seen in his debut movie's sequel MSG 2 - The Messenger, which released in the same year as his debut in 2013. The movie was banned in several states for, apparently, hurting the sentiments of 'adivasis' and other tribal communities. Despite that, the movie went on to collect four crores INR in its first week. The movie was also bashed by the critics, with most of them giving it either half a star or no rating at all, stating that it is more of a propaganda than a movie. The negative reviews and critics' bashings did not stop Gurmeet Singh Ji from working on the MSG franchise's third installmentMSG - The Warrior Lion Heart, which released in 2016.
